He confronts her at her house and she reveals that she catfished Sarah simply because she was bored. Sarah was not even the first woman who fell victim to this ploy. This eventually leads to Ed being killed by the police, which finally allows Nick to be totally proven innocent, albeit posthumously.

Original Pink ‘Power Ranger’ Amy Jo Johnson Writing New Comic Book Series: ‘It’s My Version’ (EXCLUSIVE)

‘Genius’ children’s publisher behind beloved favourites, including the famous ‘Usborne Book of’ series, dies… And finally, Foley and Domińczyk snapped a quick selfie with Rhimes. Realism rarely intersects with trashy thrillers, but the twist reveal in Netflix’s Clickbait undermines the show’s logic and puts viewers on shaky ground.

Christian and I created the show from two or three real things that we had read about this new class of crimes on the internet. One of them was obviously catfishing, and we were particularly baffled and intrigued by the instances of women impersonating men. A tangled web unravels that makes it seem like Nick was a serial cheater, on every dating site under a new name, having relationships with women in multiple cities. When one of those women kills herself and uncaring messages from Nick’s profile are found on her phone, her brother wants him to pay.

There’s definitely some positives and these final few episodes have been pretty good. Through a number of twists and turns along the way, we finally get our answer and not a moment too soon – police rush up to the caravan just in time to apprehend the dastardly pair. The TV series’ shock plot twist came as a surprise to many viewers who initially thought that he was killed by his kidnappers. However, more disturbingly, his kidnappers vow to murder him once the video reaches five million views. Of course, the video goes viral, and his family have to deal with the fallout… Nick had never once cheated on his wife, to the best of our knowledge.

**WARNING – Major Spoilers for Clickbait Ahead**

He was not involved in what happened to Nick — just one of many red herrings dropped over the course of the season. Nick’s son Kai is able to figure out that Dawn is involved somehow in this mess (thanks to his older brother’s own snooping), and when he goes to confront them, the couple abducts him and takes him to the woods. In the ensuing standoff with the police, Dawn is arrested and Ed dies by suicide as well, using the gun he’d been threatening Kai with.

Episode 8 revealed that the catfish was Nick’s kindly office manager Dawn, whose dangerous game led to a number of broken hearts and one tragic suicide. When it came to Nick’s actual murder, it was Dawn’s husband Ed who finished the job that Simon began. Well, coming to the hot question first – Did Nick have an affair in Clickbait – no, he did not.

In the end, it turns out that Nick actually was innocent of any wrongdoing. He was abducted by a man named Simon , who believed that Nick was indirectly responsible for the suicide of his sister Sarah . Someone using Nick’s photos and name created a dating app profile and began an internet romance with Sarah, before suddenly ending it coldly. Sarah then died by suicide, which, in turn, led Simon to find Nick and abduct him.

Series creator Shonda Rhimes, 53, shared a series of photos on Instagram on Thursday revealing that she got together with with Bellamy Young, 53, Katie Lowes, 40, and Joshua Malina, 57. He went to her house the night Simon released him to confront her. However, Dawn’s husband hit him over the back of the head and killed him. „I mean, you always want people to like you and to like your work,” he explained. What was great about having Adrian as Nick is that he can have a quality which makes you wonder what’s going on underneath that nice exterior. He has his very public, warm persona, but there are layers of mystery to him as an actor, and there’s something about him that makes you also believe that he could be a bad guy.

The Ending of ‘Clickbait,’ Explained

Instead of going to the police or return to his family, Nick goes to Dawn and Ed’s place and confronts them. He also kidnaps Nick’s son when he figures out that Dawn is guilty. Later, Ed is shot by the police because he refuses to give up his gun.

This recap of the Netflix series Clickbait episode 6, “The Brother,” contains significant spoilers. He procures Sarah’s phone, which has some damning messages from Nick, that are brought to light during his interview with Sophie Brewer. With this new information, the police decide fatflirt to investigate Simon as the main suspect in the case. „Sometimes those secrets are untoward, sometimes they’re quite benign, but there are bits of ourselves we show and bits of ourselves that we don’t show… There’s a real blurring of those two things.” Dawn proceeds to catfish several women, including Sarah Burton and Emma Beasley. We gather that she is a lonely, bored woman, who is not getting the attention she craves from Ed, whose passions appear to revolve around model trains. The plot revolves around Nick Brewer — a seemingly ordinary man — who is kidnapped and forced to film a ransom video.

The day Dawn first drunkenly logged into Nick’s D8R account and started sending and receiving messages, Nick’s mobile phone was synced to his D8R account . Therefore, every message Dawn sent posing as him on that site that night would also have shown up as an alert on Nick’s phone. Mandy Harrison later confirmed that she and ‘Nick’ exchanged “tons of messages” but never met in person before she ended things, having sensed that something was off.

Dawn was the only one that had access to everything he was doing; the pics, the dating site, etc., when she sync’d his phone with the computer. He was rather close to Pia so why didn’t he just call her and explain the situation to her. Or maybe he felt he could overpower Dawn given her age and his strength. And yes, they tried to go subtle with the dating app being created before Sophie cheated on him, but I really think they needed to actually spend more time on that plot point. Storming to Nick’s workplace, Pia tells the receptionist Dawn to unlock Matt’s PC. When she does so, Pia finds several photos of Nick on it.

This was revealed on Nick’s first day at work, as Dawn was syncing his phone and a home screen notification came up from a dating site called D8R. A flirtatious message from a woman named Mandy appeared, showing that Nick had previously complimented her bikini photo. I guess I read it as, there was a terrible fight at the beginning and even though he’s quite angry, I also think that when you start Episode 1 with Pia, you realize very quickly she’s quite a tricky character herself. She’s not necessarily a sweet, likable character; she’s prickly and she’s abrasive and she’s judgmental. I had thought of him as a brother who had reached the end of his tether with a difficult sister who is always pushing and prodding and attacking his wife, who she clearly doesn’t like. So that was my intention in starting that way, but it’s interesting that can be read in other ways, which I think works in our favor.
